These photos are more than just pictures. They’re a celebration of a whole new beginning for our family.
A complete and utter lightening storm and downpour occurred on the day of our planned late June maternity photoshoot. I left my hair appointment super sad thinking there was no way our photoshoot could still go on with the way that the weather was acting. A few hours later we saw a chance of a break in the weather and decided to head out to Port Huron, MI in hopes of it clearing. As soon as we pulled up to the beach the rain cleared and the sunshine came out like nothing had ever happened. We felt so incredibly happy and lucky for the storm to have passed just In time to capture these absolutely incredible photos.

At the end of June I had the privilege of working with Sydney again for our maternity photoshoot. She also shot our wedding and our engagement photos, which I will forever be obsessed with, so I knew I had to book her again for these photos as well. She’s incredibly talented and personable and she’s just such a joy to work with. I cannot recommend her enough! I personally love her bright and airy style and knew she would capture my vision perfectly. I couldn’t have dreamed for these photos to turn out any better.
I knew since we are having a summer baby that I wanted to incorporate the beach in our photos just as we did months prior in our pregnancy announcement. When Sydney suggested Lighthouse Beach in Port Huron, Michigan I knew it would be perfect. It’s got that east coast vibe with the tall grass and Lake Huron is obviously such a stunning backdrop to begin with. You really can’t go wrong. On top of all of that, the huge lighthouse perched on the beach is the perfect touch for the dreamiest of coastal chic photoshoots.

The Looks:
I knew I wanted to wear one of those dramatic and flowy dresses for the shoot and when I came across this one on Amazon I had to have it. It’s perfect for the vibe I was going through, and although it’s quit see-through I found the perfect undergarments to go under it. The dress comes in a ton of different colors and is very well-made.
For my second look, which was actually very last minute (I’m talking an hour beforehand,) I chose something I was comfortable in and that I knew would be flattering and show off the bump a little more than the first dress. I had my husband wear something neutral he felt comfortable in and he chose a white Banana Republic collared shirt with some white slacks.
