Babymoon | Atlantis, Bahamas

If you’re looking to visit the Bahamas for your babymoon and want the inside scoop on everything Atlantis, Paradise Island has to offer, you’ve come to the right place.

I recently got back from the Bahamas for an eight night stay at Atlantis and it was an absolute dream! I went for our babymoon/ annual birthday trip and I couldn’t have asked for it to be more perfect. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I obviously wanted to do a babymoon and it just so happened it fell within perfect timing of our annual June birthday trip! We knew we wanted to go out of the country and check off another bucket list destination on our list, but also wanted somewhere somewhat close to the USA. Therefore, the Bahamas seemed like a no-brainer. I’ve dreamt of staying at this resort since I was little and watched Mary-Kate and Ashley “Holiday In the Sun.” If you know you know!

Our time was filled with laughs, perfect weather and great food and relaxation. Now that we’re back it’s time to get into full baby mode. First, however, I wanted to recap our trip for you all.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly resort, babymoon destination or activity packed spot, Atlantis would be a great fit for you as it has something for everyone. There’s so much to do at this resort including the second largest casino in the Caribbean, an 18-hole miniature golf course, outdoor water sports, daily events and activities and so much more! When it comes to Atlantis, think Disney World mixed with Vegas. How could you not love it!

Atlantis has 14 pools and numerous waterslides as well. Although I was pregnant and couldn’t enjoy the waterslides or excursions offered it was the perfect getaway for a babymoon. I picked this destination and resort based off the fact that I could choose a different pool or beach each day and always feel like I was doing something new. My main focus of the trip was to relax, eat good food, spend quality time with my husband, and that’s exactly what we did. It was perfect! Speaking of eating good food, did I mention Atlantis Paradise Island has over 21 restaurants?! We thought the food was wonderful at each place we ate. There’s so many options and cuisines you’re sure to find something you like. You can even venture off the property and enjoy some fun places for dinner within walking distance from the resort. We tried Anthony’s, Carnival and Margaritaville, all in which we enjoyed. Oh, and the restaurants also have yummy mocktails as well. I loved sipping on a delicious virgin Pina colada or daiquiri each day in the sun.

Getting to Atlantis

One of the reasons we chose to stay here and go to the Bahamas is that it was close enough that it wasn’t hard to do while 7 months pregnant, but just far enough away to feel like our typical tropical getaway we do every June. The Bahamas is a 4 hour flight from where we are in Michigan, so if you’re in the South of the U.S it’s even more convenient for you. Once landing, Atlantis is only about a 25 minute drive from the airport, again making it super convenient for people like me who are pregnant, or families traveling with smaller children.

When to go

December- April is typically when it is best to travel to the Bahamas as this is when the weather is known to be most ideal with warm days, minimal rainfall and sunshine. We went in the beginning of June, which is super hot but also off season- as June 1st is the start of hurricane season. We lucked out and had perfect weather the entire time and it wasn’t as crowded as the high season would have been.

The property

The grounds of Atlantis are extremely well-kept and beautiful. There’s also marine life and gigantic aquariums everywhere you look. I loved walking around each day and seeing anything from various types of sharks, to stingrays, to sea turtles. It was super cool and unlike any other place I’ve ever stayed at. The resort is also insanely huge and although everything is walkable, you may have to walk far. There is a shuttle that takes you from different parts of the resort as well if you don’t feel like it or can’t walk far distances.

There are four different towers on property: the royal, the coral, the reef and the cove. We chose to stay in the royal towers which are the most centrally located to everything and I highly recommend staying here for price, location and convenience. You just have to pick which tower suits your needs the best and what you value more whether it be privacy, convenience, etc.

Spending

One thing is for sure and that’s that this resort is EXPENSIVE, aside from airfare and hotel, you will also be charged a resort fee each night as well as a 10% VAT tax added onto every item + gratuity. A VAT tax is a value added tax on goods and services that the island has put into place. Keep this in mind before booking. Do I think it was worth it? Yes. For how beautiful the grounds are and all that it has to offer I still think that despite the hefty price point it’s worth experiencing.

What I wore

I lived in dresses and comfy, stretchy clothes the entire time. I chose a mix of both maternity and regular clothes in a size up for the trip. I found that accessorizing and wearing things that were flattering on my body during this time helped me feel the most confident. Everything I bought for this trip was either inexpensive, or something I knew I would still be able to fit in and wear after pregnancy. I find it unnecessary to splurge on pieces just for pregnancy. I’ve showcased a few of my looks below and any/all pieces I wore on my trip you can find linked below or on my LTKit @selahchristeen
