If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that life isn’t certain, therefore now is the best time to make your dreams come true and live your life the way you’ve always wanted. While this is easier said than done, it is not impossible. The main idea is to take charge of the things that happen in your life rather than wait for life to happen to you, and with a little help, it IS achievable. So, whether you want to build your summer body or travel the world and discover new cultures, here are a few tips to help you design and start living your dream life.
- Start with your mindset
A lot of what you can achieve will be more realistic only if you believe that it’s possible to focus on thinking in possibilities and not in limitations. Consider all your dreams to be valid and achievable to jumpstart your journey to achieving them. Manifesting is honestly a real thing. Try to avoid thinking about everything that could be in the way and start focusing on how everything could work out. While keeping this in mind, try to be as realistic as possible with your dreams as well, so that they don’t seem too far fetched. Also, focus on meaningful aspirations that are more likely to motivate you.
- Don’t compare
By now, it should be pretty clear the diversity there is to humanity. No two people are the same, and the same can be said about dreams. In this day of social media, it can be challenging not to compare your life to others’. Trust me, I do it all the time and it is super self sabotaging. But if you go into detail, you will realize that you may not be able to go through the process someone else went through to get to where they are. Everyone goes through life at their own pace. So, while it is okay to admire what others have, try as much as possible not to compare yourself to them. To be honest, trying to keep up might just be adding on to your stress. Instead, concentrate on your path and what you can do with your talent. Pay attention to what works for you and capitalize on that to make your dreams come true.
- Get a mentor
While it isn’t the best idea to compare yourself to others, it is very helpful to learn from others. Taking a mentor means finding someone who is doing something similar to what you want to achieve and learning a few tips and tricks from them. You might think you can do it all by yourself – and maybe you can – but getting help will make it so much easier! For example, if it has been your dream to start a blog or YouTube channel, it’s always a good idea to find someone who is already doing that and learn the ins and outs. This will save you the extra time and resources you would have put into doing it by yourself, and you will make fewer mistakes.
- Develop good habits
This one is a no brainer as living your best life is tied to the choices you make. Some lifestyle choices and habits may be the only thing holding you back on living that dream life. For example, you want to travel the world, but you spend all your money on things you don’t actually need. In a situation like this, you will need to start learning the habit of saving, which will eventually require that you learn self-discipline as well. While bad habits are not easy to shake, you will notice an improvement in your life once you put in the effort.

- Invest in yourself
This is something I stand by 110 percent. You are your biggest asset, and for your dreams to come true, you will have to grow yourself. Investing in yourself allows you to unlock the greatness and potential you have, which puts you one step further to living your dream life. For example, if you want to be your own boss and start by starting a business, consider registering for courses that will help you to do that. No one can take away the knowledge you gather for yourself, and these days there are so many convenient ways to learn just about anything. With platforms like YouTube available, you wouldn’t even have to spend that much; all you’ll need is a good internet connection. The positive thing about this is that there is financial help, for example, guarantor loans, if you need it.
- Make amazing lemonade out of your lemons
Life will not always go as planned, but what you make out of the given situation is what matters. So whatever may come your way, try your best to turn it around for your benefit. You can do this by identifying the things you can control in your life and focusing on making the most out of them. This way, you’re less likely to be stressed, and it presents an opportunity to challenge yourself anyways. So, open your arms to every situation and see it as an inspiration to keep going; after all, most of the people living their dream lives today also faced obstacles. You are in good company.
- Choose productivity over being busy
If you are someone who hates being idle, then staying busy might sound like a good idea. But what you are achieving while staying busy is more important. Being productive means whatever activity you’re engaging in is going to yield benefits that will bring you closer to living your dream life. However, being busy might not necessarily have the same effect. So the goal should be to work smarter and not harder, as you will get more things done that way. Ultimately, checking things off your to-do list faster and more efficiently should be the goal.
Living your dream life is achievable, and it starts with clearly defining what that means for you. Once you figure that out, use the tips mentioned as a guide to facilitate the process. Remember to hold yourself accountable for the life you choose and try your best to add some value to it. Finally, be sure that whatever you do makes you happy!
