I just recently got back from Maui, HI for my 26th birthday and all I can think about, well besides the gorgeous weather is THE FOOD! Holy cow was it amazing. Maui has some of the best food out of any of the places I’ve traveled with so many fresh ingredients and great restaurants, it’s hard not to be satisfied with your meal.
There are so many places to pick from in Maui it’s hard to choose. I’ve put together an informative list complete with the best breakfast, lunch, dinner and best happy hour spots to help you out when traveling to the island.

Breakfast:
The Gazebo: Located at the Napili shores inn in Lahaina this small little breakfast spot is located on the most gorgeous beach overlooking bright blue water. Fantastic prices and the most amazing food is what makes this place a must! The service is also an A+! Make sure you get here early, however, because there is ALWAYS a line wrapped around the tiny spot. It’s worth the wait, though. You must try the macadamia nut pancakes, as well as the Hawaiian fried rice… yum!
Ka’anapali Grill and Tap Room: Located at the Marriott this restaurant really impressed me with their breakfast selection. It was super hard to choose what we wanted because so many items sounded amazing. I got the breakfast burrito and my boyfriend got the short rib and eggs and they were both to die for! Highly recommend this spot!
Lunch:
Da Kitchen: Located in Kahului, this low-key restaurant serves up big portions good enough to share, as well as reasonable prices. If you’re looking for a pretty atmosphere and views, this is not the place, however, the food is delicious and it’s great for a quick stop before heading to the beach.
Ululani’s Shaved Ice: Located at the Hyatt in Lahaina. Although this is’t technically “lunch” it’s still amazing and a must-try! One of the best shaved ice trucks on the island!
Monkeypod: Located in Whaler’s Village, this upbeat bar is always off the hook! This was by far one of my favorite places for lunch, happy hour and even late night happy hour. We kept coming back for the friendly bar staff, atmosphere and great apps! The lobster deviled eggs are a must try!
Cheeseburger in paradise: Located in Lahaina, the burgers are great and a great size as well. I had the Mac and cheese burger and it was awesome! Mai Tai’s are also good. The things that make this place worth visiting, however, is the views from the roof top deck.
Dinner:
Japengo: Located at the Hyatt in Lahaina this Asian inspired cuisine is so fricken good! I could have eaten it every night! With amazing views of the ocean and delicious sushi you won’t regret it! You absolutely have to try the blackened ahi tuna role!
Leilani’s on the beach: Located in Whaler’s Village. This spot also has great views, live music and even better food! We ate here the first night and it was hard to beat the rest of the week. We got the ahi tuna dripped in zip sauce and fish tacos and O.M.G were they ever good! I’m craving them right now just writing this.
Cliff Dive Bar: Located at the Sheraton this bar has it all. We loved coming here and watching the sunset and cliff divers, as well as the live music and hula dancer. The vibes here are great and so are the food and drinks!
Kimo’s: Located in Lahaina. Great views of the water and a large sized restaurant! I didn’t eat the food but I did see it and man do I ever wish I was hungry at the time. It looked amazing! Great happy hour drink prices as well!
Mama’s Fish House: Located in Paia. If you haven’t already heard of this place then I’m shocked. Make sure you make reservations weeks in advance because this popularly known place books quick! The views and location are the best on the island, with the most fresh fish you will ever taste. I would go back just for the Mai Tai’s… they’re that good!
Happy Hour:
Down the Hatch: Located in Lahaina, this is the best bar IMO on the island for happy hour. They have the longest running happy hour from 2-6 daily. Great drink specials, great food and a fun atmosphere, this was one of my favorite places to visit on the island.
Three’s Bar and Grill: Located in Kihei Kalama Village this is another great spot for food and drink specials from 3-6. I couldn’t believe how good of deals this place had, including $2 oysters!!
Pailolo Bar & Grill: Located at the pool at the Westin in Lahaina this place has great drink specials from 4-6 and 8:30-10 pm daily!
Captain Jack’s Island Grill: Located in Lahaina! A great price happy hour from 2-5 with delicious food including $5 crab cakes and $8 sliders. Great views as well
