About two weeks ago my family and I headed North to Bellaire, MI to shanty creek resorts.
My aunt wanted to do a ski and snowboard trip for her birthday so my boyfriend and I, my stepdad and mom, aunt and uncle packed up the cars and headed out 3 hours away. The resort was beautiful just like something you would see in a movie. We had our own cabin with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and an upstairs loft. We even had a wrap around deck and fireplace. Super cozy!
We went the second week in January and it actually was not busy at all so I would definitely recommend going later on in January or February. Also, definitely book in advance since the cabins do go fast. I would also say it is best to purchase your lift tickets online before arriving, it’s cheaper that way. You can purchase your tickets here. All and all though the lodges and grounds are gorgeous and there is a very nice bar in the main lobby area. The pool and hot tub were a nice touch as well. The only downfall is that everything closes pretty early.
All staff members are super helpful. My family chose skiing and my boyfriend and I chose snowboarding. It was both of our first times in a long time, so we decided to hit the bunny hill. It was a great place to learn and all of the workers were super motivational and helpful. After hitting the slopes a few runs and getting a feel for it we headed to the bistro inside the lodge. The food and atmosphere were great! I would love to head there in the summer and learn to golf as well. The views seem to be stunning in the warmer months.
I would definitely recommend visiting Schuss Mountain if you’re looking for a fun ski weekend. It’s reasonably priced and a great time!
